Shedeur Sanders' mom Pilar brags as Browns QB dethrones Micah Parsons, Jaxson Dart, Sophie Cunningham to become "Most Googled Athlete In The World"

Google shared its year-end search list on Thursday, showing Shedeur Sanders as the most-searched athlete in the world in 2025. He was also the sixth most-searched person.

His mom, Pilar Sanders, celebrated the news on Instagram. She posted a graphic on Monday of Google’s global ranking. It had the Cleveland Browns quarterback at No. 1, and his brother, Shilo, at No. 8.

Fans were excited to see Sanders enter the NFL. They followed him closely as he’s Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders’ son and many thought he would be a top 10 pick. However, he slid to the fifth round, with the Browns selecting him.

When Sanders arrived in Cleveland, the team's quarterback room was stacked. It had Joe Flacco, Deshaun Watson, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Sanders.

Watson continues to recover from an Achilles injury, while Flacco was the veteran starter. Pickett served as the backup as the two rookies were still developing.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski named Flacco the Week 1 starter; however, he was traded to the Bengals on Oct. 7. Gabriel was handed the QB1 job. Things changed in Week 11 when he sustained a concussion, forcing the team to turn to Sanders.

The former Colorado Buffaloes star's first game was disappointing, completing just 4 of 16 passes with an interception. He improved quickly and threw his first career touchdown in the win against the Raiders the following week.

Sanders' best performance came versus the Titans on Sunday: 364 yards, three passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown. He became the first Cleveland quarterback since 2007 to record those numbers.

The Browns announced on Monday that Sanders will be their starting quarterback for the rest of the campaign.

Shilo Sanders became one of the most Googled athletes in 2025, landing at No. 8. Two notable instances likely pushed his name up the charts.

He was ejected from the Buccaneers’ preseason game on Nov. 23 for throwing punches at Bills tight end Zach Davidson. Tampa Bay released Sanders the next day while completing its final roster.

He also dealt with a bankruptcy case. It stemmed from an $11.89 million judgment from a 2015 incident at his high school in Dallas. A court ruled against Sanders in 2022, and he filed for bankruptcy in 2023.

The case grew bigger in October. A trustee accused Sanders of moving $250,000 from his NIL earnings into two companies he created, Big 21 LLC and Headache Gang LLC, instead of reporting it.
