Rex Ryan has criticized Shedeur Sanders for sitting alone at the end of Cleveland’s loss to Baltimore. The former NFL coach took exception to Sanders remaining on the bench while Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson looked to speak with him following Sunday’s matchup.

Sanders saw his first regular-season action in Week 11 after Dillon Gabriel left in the third quarter due to a concussion evaluation. Baltimore defeated the Browns 23-16.

"Shedeur, he's got to get over himself too, like he's there by himself on the bench at the end of the game I've never seen," Ryan said on Monday, via ESPN’s “Get Up.” "I've seen it in the seventh game of World Series. When you lose a game, or whatever, this game is a pillow fight game. Nobody cares.

"Did he care? Or are you trying to make it a show? Make it about yourself. You got a guy over there that, by the way, is a two time MVP right there. Lamar Jackson, he was looking for you. Why not share a moment with him. Share a moment with Lamar."

Sanders entered with Cleveland leading by six and finished 4-for-16 for 47 yards with a 13.5 passer rating. The Browns produced 44 total yards in the second half and failed to sustain drives, including two three-and-outs, under his direction. He threw an interception and was sacked twice.

Although Shedeur Sanders completed his opening two passes, misfires and pressure defined the remainder of his performance. He was sacked by Kyle Hamilton during his first series, leading to a fumble that Cleveland recovered. Sanders took responsibility for the loss, saying he failed to meet expectations.

“I don’t think I played good at all. They gave me an opportunity. I didn’t do up to my expectations to get us a win. I have to take it on the chin,” said Sanders via AP News.

Pressure from Kyle Van Noy forced an off-balance throw that was intercepted by Nate Wiggins on the following possession. A stretch of four consecutive stalled drives included seven straight incompletions.

The Browns had a late chance after Mark Andrews scored on a 35-yard run with just over two minutes left. Shedeur Sanders opened the final drive by hitting Harold Fannin Jr. for 25 yards and finding Jerry Jeudy to push the ball to Baltimore’s 30-yard line. Cleveland’s comeback push ended when his fourth-down attempt to David Njoku fell incomplete.

Cleveland coach Kevin Stefanski mentioned after the game that Shedeur Sanders will start next week against Las Vegas if Gabriel remains in concussion protocol.
