Rome Odunze was a dominant machine on Sunday, as the Chicago Bears wide receiver caught six passes for 86 yards and a touchdown in a 24-20 win against the New York Giants.

It marked a far cry from when he was the subject of trade rumors ahead of the deadline after his father James went off at quarterback Caleb Williams for not targeting him frequently enough last Monday.

After the game, he joked to reporters in the locker room:

"Thanks dad!"

Odunze's touchdown catch, which occurred in the fourth quarter, was the only one to occur the entire afternoon. The rest came off rushes, including the game-winning one by Williams. The Giants had two, both of which came from quarterback Jaxson Dart, who also completed 19 of 29 passing attempts for 242 yards.

Chad Ochocinco requests to work out with Rome Odunze

After Sunday, Rome Odunze now sits at 37 receptions for 559 yards and six touchdowns. If he can maintain his pace of production, he could become the first Bears receiver since Alshon Jeffery in 2014 to hit quadruple digits.

And his exploits are attracting the attention of a certain legend - Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson. The former Cincinnati Bengals wideout said on Sunday:

“I need to work with Rome Odunze this offseason, young boul gone be special i just need 3 weeks… 💭”

Such a potential working arrangement has already attracted a proponent in Bears insider Erik Lambert. He writes:

“Though Rome Odunze is already a sharp route runner in his own right, there is no denying he would benefit from the expertise of someone like Johnson. While working together is currently impossible, it wouldn’t be surprising if they come together at some point this offseason.”

It is worth noting that Odunze has already employed the services of an ex-Bengal before. During his preparation for the transition to the NFL, he employed former TJ Houshmandzadeh to aid in the process.

After some days, the former Pro Bowler had much praise for him, at one point even comparing him to Larry Fitzgerald on Keyshawn Johnson's All Facts No Brakes podcast:

"I believe he has the best opportunity to prove that [he’s the best wide receiver in his class]. Him and Caleb Williams will grow together."

He would also share the same sentiments on FS1's The Herd with Colin Cowherd.
