On Monday, the Indianapolis Colts announced that veteran quarterback Philip Rivers is coming out of retirement amid the plethora of injuries in their quarterback room. However, one question that was looming was whether he would be wearing the No.17 jersey, since it became Daniel Jones' number.However, during Wednesday's press conference, Philip Rivers revealed how he texted Jones for his jersey number. He ended up getting"I talked or texted with Daniel about him being so gracious about 17, you know," Rivers said. "That was certainly meaningful to me, you know, and obviously didn't want it to be like this again and didn't ever think of anything like all this happened so fast. But him being gracious and saying shoot heck yeah, you know, go for it."Daniel Jones suffered a season-ending Achilles injury during last week's 36-19 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. In 13 games, he tallied 3,101 yards and 19 TDs passing while leading the Colts to an 8-5 record.Philip Rivers had retired back in 2021. During his 17-season stint, he recorded 63,440 yards and 421 TDs passing. The veteran spent one season with the Colts during the 2020 season. He helped the team to the playoffs, where they lost to the Bills in the Wild Card round.
