"People love to take shxt completely outta context": Odell Beckham Jr. doesn't mince words after Shannon Sharpe criticizes WR's words on losing $100M

Odell Beckham Jr. has hit back at Shannon Sharpe after the former Denver Broncos tight end criticized the receiver for saying he would not be able to survive a lifetime off a $100 million contract. Beckham said his comments had been taken out of context.

"Boy u can’t say nothin in this world nowadays😂, that’s why I been in my own lane my own world n put the way. People love to take Shxt completely outta context to rationalize a statement in their own head that makes sense to them… what a world."

Beckham, who signed a bumper five-year, $95 million deal with the New York Giants in 2018 and had Nike, Foot Locker, and Lenovo as sponsors, had sparked a debate with his comments on the Pivot podcast.

“I always explain this to people,” Beckham said. “You give somebody a five-year, $100 million contract—that’s five years for 60. We’re getting taxed. That’s 12 million a year you have to spend, use, save, invest, flaunt, whatever.”

Sharpe responded to Beckham's comment on his "Nightcap" podcast, saying the former Giants receiver had a "problem" if he could not make such wealth last.

"OBJ, I’m going to be honest with you, bro. If you get 60 million dollars liquid and that can’t last you a lifetime, you’ve got a problem... You out of your damn mind."

Beckham is currently a free agent after serving a six-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Odell Beckham Jr. is searching for a new team

The league reinstated Odell Beckham Jr. after he served his suspension, but he has yet to secure a spot on a new team. He hasn't played since his nine-game stint with the Miami Dolphins.

The one-time Super Bowl champion is bullish on making a comeback.

"I’m good. Just training, getting back in shape, doing all that, staying ready,” Beckham said on "Manningcast". “Just feel like there’s some more left in the tank… I’m just waiting for that opportunity.”

The last time Odell Beckham Jr. joined a team late in the season was in 2021 when he signed for the Los Angeles Rams. The signing was a masterstroke, as he helped Sean McVay's team win Super Bowl LVI.

The LSU Tigers product has since taken in stints with the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins. He had 35 catches for 565 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games with the Ravens, as well as nine catches for 55 yards with the Dolphins.
