The New England Patriots honored Tom Brady in August by unveiling a statue of the legendary quarterback outside Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Brady, who won six Super Bowls in 20 years in New England, became the first player to get a statue from the franchise.

On Wednesday, another Patriots legend, Rob Gronkowski, was honored by the team. The legendary tight end, who won three Super Bowls in New England, signed a one-day contract with the franchise to retire as a Patriot. When asked about his feelings of potentially having a statue like his former teammate Brady, Gronkowski hinted that he wasn't expecting one.

"If you put one, just put me in the endzone, and be tiny," Gronkowski said. "Because Tom is one of a kind. The greatest. He played for 20+ years here. I think that the only statue to be deserved here is Tom Brady."

Gronkowski played 11 years with the Patriots and was one of Brady's favorite targets. He retired for the first time after the 2018 season.

However, in 2020, Gronkowski came out of retirement and signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to join Brady at the team. They helped Tampa Bay win the Super Bowl in their first year together.

Gronkowski retired for the second time after the 2021 season. His 92 receiving touchdowns rank third all-time among tight ends, while his 9,286 receiving yards rank sixth-highest among tight ends in NFL history.

Brady's bronze statue at Gillette Stadium stands at 17 feet, featuring a 12-foot figure on a hexagonal base. The height of the sculpture has some important meaning behind it.

The statue's 12-foot height represents Brady's iconic jersey number, 12. Meanwhile, the 17-foot height from the base and hexagonal shape symbolize his 17 AFC East titles and six Super Bowl victories, respectively.
