Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz's involvement in a betting scandal rocked MLB. Oritz was arrested in Boston on Monday after the duo was indicted.

According to the indictment, Clase had been conspiring with sports bettors since 2023 on specific pitches they would throw during MLB games. Ortiz joined his teammate in the scandal this year.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes gave his opinion on the scandal, explaining that he steers clear of the betting aspect and just focuses on the game he loves.

"The NFL and NFLPA kind of tell us all the different rules that you can and can't do. I just stay away from it, just because I don't want to put myself in that position. I mean, that's something that, your life is so great, why mess with it? And so, it does get more than anything, to me, it gets weird sometimes when you have fans talking about it.

"You're just trying to go out there and live your life and play the game, and sometimes they get really attached even more than a regular fan, because they have money on the line. I would just say, don't do anything that you can't recuperate or live without. It's a crazy world we live in these days, seeing all this stuff happen. But I think if you just focus on the football and focus on the sport that you love and why you're here, and you don’t have to worry about other stuff."

Ortiz was presented in court on Wednesday and the Guardians pitcher pleaded not guilty to several conspiracy charges, accusing him of rigging pitches. Clase is reportedly set to surrender in court on Thursday.

Patrick Mahomes reflects on Chiefs' crucial Week 11 clash against Broncos

The Chiefs are 5-4 for the season but despite their indifferent campaign, two-time MVP Patrick Mahomes said the team is in pursuit of the AFC West. They face the Denver Broncos (8-2), who hold the tiebreaker over Kansas City, on Sunday.

Mahomes highlighted the importance of a win in Sunday's Week 11 clash against the AFC West leaders.

"Obviously, if you lose this game, with (the Broncos) having the tiebreaker and, what would that be, four games ahead of us? It’d be tough to go back and get that one,"

Although the Chiefs haven't been at their best this season, Mahomes believes they can beat any team if they play up to their usual standards.
