The Minnesota Vikings' nightmare season got even tougher on Monday when Minnesota coach Kevin O’Connell revealed that quarterback J.J. McCarthy entered concussion protocol. However, the timing of the update has confused NFL fans.

According to O’Connell, McCarthy began feeling symptoms on the flight home from Green Bay after the Vikings’ 23-6 loss to the Packers. However, because no major hit appeared on the broadcast, and fans took to social media with pure disbelief and plenty of jokes.

“Kevin O’Connell and Jettas gave it to him on the ride home,” one fan wrote.

Another added, “I was concussed watching him.”
“I’ve never seen a player benched TWICE in the same season with very suspect ‘injury’ labels,” an X user tweeted.

Someone else said the concussion test “had him count 1–10 and he only got to nine.”

The Vikings are 4-7 and have lost three straight games, and J.J. McCarthy’s situation doesn't help them. It was supposed to be a developmental season for the former Michigan Wolverines quarterback, but it has turned into O’Connell’s biggest crisis this year.
