Drake Maye has had an impressive season so far with the New England Patriots. However, Skip Bayless is still doubtful about their chances of overcoming Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in the AFC to emerge as Super Bowl champions. On Friday's episode of "The Arena: Gridiron", Bayless highlighted how Drake Maye still has a lot to prove in the NFL as he navigates through his second year in New England. He said that the quarterback lacks the experience compared to other stars in the AFC, like Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen."Looks like they (the Patriots) are going to have the one seed," Bayless said. "Yeah, agreed, which would give them two potential home games to get said Super Bowl. I'm looking at their closing schedule. It's ranked second easiest. ... So I love their chances of having potentially the two home games."But I stll believe, even after what I saw last night, I believe Mahomes could go in there and knock him off. I believe Josh Allen could go in there and knock him off. ... I'm just not sold on this still young quarterback being battle tested enough to beat Mahomes or Josh Allen or even Danny Dimes in a playoff game, not enough scar tissue.Drake Maye has helped the Patriots to a 9-2 record and an eight-game winning streak after their Week 11 victory over the New York Jets. He has tallied 2,836 yards and 20 TDs passing while they sit on top of the AFC East.Ex-NFL star Cam Newton disses Drake Maye despite 9-2 record with the GiantsDuring their 27-14 victory over the Jets, the Patriots quarterback completed 25 of 34 passes for 281 yards and one passing touchdown. Despite helping his team place No.1 in the AFC East, ex-NFL quarterback Cam Newton is still not sold on Maye's skills. On Friday, on ESPN's "First Take", the 2015 NFL MVP downplayed the quarterback and his success with the Patriots."It has fool's gold written all over it," Newton said. "Is Drake Maye playing football? Absolutely. I would like to attest his great play to one specific person that I know too well, Josh McDaniels."... The thing I have a problem with is if you keep playing sorry scrubs, then you're going to have this falsetto of a mentality going into the playoffs. And it has one-on-one written all over it."The Patriots are scheduled to take on the Cincinnati Bengals next Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
