"NO WAY Shedeur Sanders can succeed against 49ers": NFL insider questions Kevin Stefanski over allegedly sabotaging rookie QB ahead of second start

Shedeur Sanders will start for the Cleveland Browns against the San Francisco 49ers. It'll be the Colorado Buffaloes product's second start in his professional football career.

Entering the game, NFL insider John Frascella is questioning Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski's intentions regarding his rookie quarterback. Frascella wrote on X (formerly Twitter),

"I watched the Browns win over the Raiders with my own two eyes. I watched JT O’Sullivan’s - former NFL quarterback - breakdown of the film on The QB School."

He continued,

"I read Kurt Warner’s - Hall of Famer - analysis of Kevin Stefanski and the Browns ‘gameplan’ for Shedeur Sanders. And now I can tell you this. There is NO WAY Shedeur Sanders can succeed against Robert Saleh’s 49ers Defense with the way Kevin Stefanski is designing and calling plays."

He concluded,

"I’m rooting for Shedeur - but it’s literally impossible. Either Stefanski is sabotaging Shedeur or he’s just a totally incompetent coach."

Frascella isn't the first public figure openly questioning Kevin Stefanski's intentions regarding Sanders. Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton has been vocal about Stefanski not being a big fan of his fifth-round rookie.

Sanders is fresh off his first start in the league against the Las Vegas Raiders. He helped his team to a win and will be aiming for a similar outcome against the San Francisco 49ers.

Shedeur Sanders set for second start with Browns

Kevin Stefanski named Shedeur Sanders as the starter against the 49ers on Monday. It was shortly after Sanders put up an admirable performance in his first start versus the Pete Carroll-coached Las Vegas Raiders.

Sanders started his NFL career as the fourth-string QB on the Browns' depth chart. He was behind veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, as well as fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel. Sanders eventually snagged the QB1 spot after a solid showing in Week 12.

Next up for Sanders and the Browns is a game against the playoff-chasing San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are 8-4 and have won three of their last five games. They enter Week 13 fresh off a Week 12 win over the Carolina Panthers.

Sanders will look to prove doubters wrong against a Robert Saleh-coordinated defense. The game will start at 1 p.m. ET and is live from Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
