Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders has received a gloomy prognosis over his future with the franchise. Sports analyst Bomani Jones made the prediction on Friday on his show “The Right Time.”

Bomani predicted that the Colorado alum will likely not return to the Browns next season. According to him, the only way Sanders returns to Cleveland next year is if he improbably delivers incredible performances for the rest of this season. He said:

“He can’t come back to the Browns after this season unless he is lights out for the rest of the year. Something about that relationship does not feel good. The staff does not seem invested in him in any sort of way, which means he probably has to go somewhere else to get this done.”

Bomani’s prediction is coming amid divided opinions and takes on Shedeur Sanders’ NFL debut and nod for his first NFL start. The quarterback debuted in the Browns’ loss to the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday.

However, it wasn’t the dream debut his fans would’ve wanted, coming in for an injured Dillon Gabriel and putting in an underwhelming performance. With Gabriel remaining on concussion protocol, Sanders is getting a second chance to prove himself, something not so common in the league. Bomani pointed out:

“This league is not about giving people chances. They give people jobs. You can seize an opportunity, but nobody owes you a chance.”

Sanders’ journey in the NFL is a good example to prove Bomani’s point. The rookie quarterback was projected to be a first-round pick in the NFL Draft but ended up waiting until the fifth round to be selected.

He has also had to fight for an opportunity to play with the Browns, entering the team’s quarterbacks depth chart at No. 4.

Geno Smith happy for Shedeur Sanders ahead of first NFL start

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith has revealed his excitement for Shedeur Sanders ahead of his first NFL start. The two quarterbacks will be on opposing sides come Sunday, but Smith is happy for Sanders nonetheless. He said at a press conference ahead of the game:

“I’m happy for my guy, man. A guy who I’ve been talking to for a long time, and just happy to see him getting a shot. But unfortunately, it’s against us, but happy to see him get a shot.”

The Raiders vs. Browns game is set to kick off at 1:05 p.m. (ET) on Sunday.
