Myles Garrett starred in a short-lived but intense standoff with the Cleveland Browns during the 2025 offseason. After initially requesting a trade away from Cleveland, the defensive end agreed to a four-year, $160 million contract extension.

Amid a rough start to the season, his future might be up in the air. Browns reporter Aaron Goldhammer shared on Thursday that the defending Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, could make a move to acquire the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year.

“Even three late No. 1 picks, given the dearth of talent and the amount of needs that the Browns have... if someone called me with three No. 1 draft picks, after what happened this past Sunday, where a guy has the greatest game I've ever seen a defensive end play: sack the quarterback five times and you still lose by three scores, it’s something I’d have to consider,” Goldhammer said.

Myles Garrett recorded five sacks against the New England Patriots last week, but the Browns still lost 34-13. He has recorded 31 tackles (16 fewer than last season in nine fewer games), a league-leading 10 sacks and one forced fumble in 2025. He has taken his game to the next level, but the Browns have failed to cash in on his performances.

At 2-6, there's no clear sign that they can turn things around and compete for a playoff spot. Garrett has been the heart and soul of the defense, and he made it clear he wanted to have the chance to compete for Super Bowls in February.

Browns remain reluctant to trade Myles Garrett amid interest from Eagles

NFL insider Charles Robinson said during an appearance on ESPN Nashville's 102.5 The Game that the Eagles are "super hot" after Myles Garrett. However, Robinson added that the Browns are reluctant to part ways with their best player.

"But, yeah, so that’s kinda like this rumor that’s out there. Like, hey, Howie would really love a shot at [Garrett]. But, again, I was told by the Browns they’re not interested in moving him," Robinson said.

Adding Garrett would make the Eagles extremely dangerous, but at this point, that doesn't seem realistic.
