Mike Vrabel serves reality check to Drake Maye over Jaxson Dart's scary hit during Patriots vs. Giants MNF

Mike Vrabel's New England Patriots recorded a 33-15 win over the New York Giants on Monday night. One of the major talking points from the game came in the first quarter when Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart looked to gain a few extra yards, but took a big hit from Patriots linebacker Christian Elliss, which sent him flying through the air and out of bounds.

Although Dart was able to get back on his feet and continue, Vrabel wants his quarterback Drake Maye to use that play as a lesson.

"It's a weekly reminder to the quarterback, our quarterback -- we show them every week, I wouldn't get too cute over there by the sidelines," Vrabel told reporters after the game. "It happens every week."

Maye also appeared to understand the dangers of trying to keep the ball for too long near the sidelines in the NFL.

"I think it's something that's been across the league that has showed up with quarterbacks near the boundary or near the sideline just kind of relaxing," Maye said after the game. "And I think I learned last year, the Chargers, I had one on that same sideline over there. I got smacked on the sideline. So just be smart and know you've almost got to accelerate or get down or do something over there."

Maye went 24 of 31 for 282 yards and two touchdowns against the Giants. He also added 12 yards on six carries. He has been exceptional for the Patriots in his second season and is among the candidates to win the MVP award.

Mike Vrabel's Patriots (11-2) have a bye in Week 14. New England will return to action in Week 15, when it hosts the Buffalo Bills on Dec. 14.

The Patriots could clinch the AFC East title with a win over the Bills.

Vrabel has done a fine job in his first year as Patriots coach, taking them to the brink of their first postseason appearance since 2021.
