Michael Irvin torches Matt Eberflus and Cowboys after pathetic defensive outing vs. Broncos

Dallas Cowboys' defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus came under scrutiny after the team's 44-24 loss to the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, in Week 8 on Sunday. It was the Cowboys' fourth loss of the season, putting another dent in their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs.

While Dallas' defense was struggling against Denver, NFL legend Michael Irvin ripped into the Cowboys' rearguard.

The Cowboys gave up 426 total yards of offense in their loss to the Broncos. Coming into the game, Dallas' defense was allowing just a little over 400 yards per game to its opponents.

However, the Broncos were able to take full advantage of the Cowboys' backline.

Denver quarterback Bo Nix went 19 of 29 for 247 yards and four touchdowns with one interception. Broncos running back RJ Harvey rushed for 46 yards and two scores on seven carries, while J.K. Dobbins recorded 111 yards on 15 rush attempts.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott also struggled with his passing. He completed 19 of 38 passes for 188 yards and two interceptions.

Matt Eberflus' Cowboys will face the Arizona Cardinals (2-5) in Week 9 of the 2025 season on Monday night (Nov. 3). The game will kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Dallas.

The Cardinals won their opening two games of the season, but are currently on a five-game losing streak.

The Cowboys will be eager to get back to winning ways against Arizona, espicially since there is now litte room for error in their quest for the playoffs. Eberflus will need to work on the team's defense this week to tighten up some of the issues in Dallas' backline.
