Green Bay Packers defensive end/linebacker Micah Parsons was shocked after learning about the NFL's resolution on Frankie Luvu's suspension. The Washington Commanders linebacker will not be suspended, the league announced Tuesday night.

NFL senior vice president of football and international communications Michael Signora noted that Derrick Brooks heard Luvu's appeal and reduced his punishment from one game to a $100,000 fine.

"Hearing officer Derrick Brooks, jointly appointed by the NFL and the NFLPA, reduced the one-game suspension of Washington’s Frankie Luvu to a $100,000 fine. Luvu is eligible to play on Sunday," Signora tweeted on Tuesday.

Micah Parsons reacted to the fine, showing his surprise at the amount his peer was fined.

"100k?????!!" Parsons wrote.

Initially, Frankie Luvu would have served a one-game suspension for repeated violations of the rule against hip-drop tackles. Had he served a suspension for this game, he would have missed out on a $508,333 check. The decision allows him to play against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

The league previously ruled that Luvu violated the policy again during the Sunday Night Football matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, specifically on a tackle against wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

After being fined $23,186 for his Week 4 violation and $46,372 in Week 8, Luvu received his third fine. The Commanders will have him on the field on Sunday as they try to snap a four-game losing streak.

Micah Parsons called out the NFL for protecting offense over defense

Micah Parsons isn't a stranger to siding and caring for his fellow defenders.

In October, he sent a blunt message to the league, questioning its focus on protecting the offense while defensive players receive a lot of uncalled punishment.

"We put so much emphasis on protecting the offense. Protect the defense," Parsons said. "A guy could be trying to catch the ball and you make a defensive player so he doesn't catch it, and it's targeting. It's a flag now. But a defensive end could be rushing and engaged with another player, and a guy could come blow his ribs out. We're not considered defenseless.

"But like we said, it's an offensive league. I think a lot of the rules are bulls**t. A guy damn near hurt Van Ness last week. Like, what are we doing? If you're going to say it's about protecting the players, then protect all players."

Parsons has never been one to hide his feelings, and this case was no exception.
