The Detroit Lions announced on Thursday that rapper Eminem and his longtime manager, Paul Rosenberg, will serve as executive producers for the team's Thanksgiving Halftime Show powered by Verizon. Marshall Mathers, also known professionally as Eminem, will advise the Detroit franchise on its annual Thanksgiving Halftime Show for at least the next three years.

When analyst Jason Whitlock caught wind of Eminem linking up with the Lions for their upcoming Thanksgiving Halftime Shows, he didn't seem too pleased and let his feelings be known on X.

"Lyrical p*rnogr**hers are the leading consultants for halftime entertainment. Hugh Hefner died too soon. He would probably be commissioner of the NFL today," Whitlock tweeted on Thursday.

Whitlock had previously expressed his annoyance when the NFL announced that Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny would be taking center stage for the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show.

"We look forward to putting together unforgettable shows featuring world-class artists for the fans at Ford Field and the tens of millions watching around the country."

The Lions have played in a Thanksgiving game since 1934. They have also hosted performances by many rappers, including Big Sean and Jack Harlow, as well as country music star Shaboozey in recent years.

For this year's Thanksgiving game, the Lions will host the Green Bay Packers on Nov. 27.
