Shedeur Sanders’ second NFL start ended in a 26-8 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday at Huntington Bank Field. After leading the Cleveland Browns to a 24-10 win over the Raiders in Week 13, the quarterback couldn't replicate that in his first home start in the league.Nonetheless, Sanders threw a touchdown that garnered a lot of attention. The quarterback found tight end Harold Fannin Jr. in the end zone from 34 yards to get the Browns 8-7 ahead in the encounter after running back Quinshon Judkins rushed into the end zone for a two-point conversion. The touchdown pass by Shedeur Sanders immediately drew a solid commendation from NBA superstar LeBron James on social media. The Los Angeles Lakers forward applauded the quarterback’s brilliance in making the pass while offering a word of encouragement.“Helluva read and pass 12! Keep going!” James wrote on X.Sanders completed 16 of 25 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown against the 49ers. The quarterback didn't throw an interception in the game, marking the first time he’s avoided that in his three-game NFL career. He was, however, sacked three times by the 49ers' defense. The Browns spent most of the game without starting right tackle Jack Conklin, who left late in the first half with a concussion and was replaced by KT Leveston. Nonetheless, Shedeur Sanders repeatedly escaped pressure, several times getting rid of the ball just before taking big hits.Shedeur Sanders to retain the starting job against the TitansShedeur Sanders will keep the starting quarterback job when the Cleveland Browns play against the Tennessee Titans in Week 14. The team's coach, Kevin Stefanski, confirmed that in his postgame press conference after the loss to the 49ers on Sunday.Reports emerged earlier this week that the Browns were willing to keep Sanders as the starter a little longer to fully evaluate their other rookie quarterback. With Stefanski's announcement, it now looks like Cleveland is indeed sticking with that approach.Shedeur Sanders is 31-of-61 for 405 yards and two touchdowns in his three games for the Browns. He has, however, thrown two interceptions and has been sacked six times. Nonetheless, another chance against the Titans gives him an opportunity to shine.Sanders took over the starting job last week against the Raiders after coming in for injured Dillon Gabriel against the Baltimore Ravens the week before. He now has a strong chance to lay a claim to the role after Gabriel failed to impress in his stretch as the starting quarterback.
