Leanna Hunter reveals hitting rock bottom after online trolls promoted false narrative following Travis Hunter's Heisman Trophy win

Travis Hunter won the Heisman Trophy award in December 2024 for his performance as a two-way star at Colorado. After he was crowned the winner, his now-wife, Leanna Hunter, faced criticism.

Videos of her with a former partner circulated on social media and some felt she looked and acted disgruntled during Buffaloes' games and during the Heisman award ceremony.

On Sunday, she shared a personal post on her Instagram Story. She explained the personal journey she went on in order to build herself back up after hitting "rock bottom."

“On January 2nd of this year, on a random beach in DR, I decided to give my life to Jesus after hitting what felt like rock bottom to me the previous 2 months. I was in the worst mental space and felt like I had nobody who could relate or understand what it felt like to have millions of people dislike you over a false narrative that was painted. As someone who once cared so much what others thought about me, I couldn’t stand feeling so disliked,"

Hunter continued by saying: “So, I gavel prayed and gave it all to Jesus. I cried and asked him for strength, forgiveness, and for him to reveal himself to me. In exchange I would read every work of his that is written and I would complete it by the end of this year. Later that night I found a “Bible in a year” plan and made sure I dedicated time every single day to be quiet and read Gods word.”

Leanna Hunter then shared an additional post revealing that just one month later that she found out that she was pregnant with her and Travis Hunter's first child.

Two-way star Travis Hunter had his rookie season cut short due to a knee injury. Just a few weeks ago the wide receiver and cornerback underwent knee surgery to repair a torn ligament in his knee.

Last week, the Jacksonville Jaguars rookie, took time to celebrate his wife, Leanna Hunter's 24th birthday.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY WIFE❣️" Travis Hunter wrote.

The couple who got engaged in 2024, got married in Tennessee in May. They welcomed their first child, a son, in August, surprising all of their social media fans after deciding not to announce her pregnancy.
