"Knee pretty much shattered": NFL fans react to Zach Ertz being carted off in tears after gruesome injury vs Vikings

NFL fans felt for Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz after the veteran suffered a devastating injury against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The Commanders didn't have the best afternoon, as they previously saw Jayden Daniel aggravate his left elbow injury.

Near the end of the third quarter, with Washington down 24-0, Ertz was carted off the field after sustaining a knee injury. He was in tears as he exited the pitch and Marcus Mariota comforted him.

Many fans reacted to the injury, with some predicting it may be a career-ending injury for Zach Ertz.

Others noted that the hit didn't look good, while criticizing the Vikings for hurting Ertz.

"Dumba** Vikings fans saying the lions are knee hunters…. This is disgusting and pathetic," one fan said.

"One of the dirtiest hits I’ve ever seen," another fan said.

"Did not look good, prayers for Ertz," another fan said.

The Washington Commanders couldn't do much against the Vikings, ultimately losing 31-0 and dropping to 3-10. The capital team's afternoon turned into a nightmare and now Zach Ertz's future in the league is anybody's guess.

Dan Quinn shared concerning update on Zach Ertz

Washington Commanders head coach Quinn provided an update on Zach Ertz after the game. Quinn told reporters Ertz is feared to have torn his ACL, per insider Ian Rapoport.

"#Commanders coach Dan Quinn told reporters that TE Zach Ertz is feared to have torn his ACL, which would explain Ertz’s emotional reaction."

The coach added that the team felt for the tight end after seeing him emotional.

“He’s one of the fiercest competitors you’ll ever be around,” Quinn said. “Seeing that kind of frustration and emotion … we all felt it.”

Washington has been a shell of the team that advanced to the 2024 NFC championship game.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels has dealt with multiple injuries this season, while wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Terry McLaurin have dealt with issues, too. At 3-10, Washington is eliminated from playoff contention.

Fans are calling for Quinn's firing after the team failed to score a single point in Week 14, adding fuel to a season that hasn't been kind to the NFC East franchise.
