Shedeur Sanders may have made history on Sunday, but Kevin Stefanski is still noncommittal on him.

At the Las Vegas Raiders, the rookie led the Cleveland Browns to a 24-10 win. notching the franchise's first-ever win for a quarterback on his first career start since its reactivation in 1999. He completed 11 of 20 passing attempts for 209 yards and a touchdown to fellow newcomer Dylan Sampson against an interception to Charles Snowden, while also buoying Quinshon Judkins to two rushing touchdowns.

After the game, however, coach Kevin Stefanski was reticent about officially declaring him the team's QB1 for at least the short-term in place of a still-concussed Dillon Gabriel:

“I’m not going to get into that. Obviously, proud of him and proud of this offense, and there are a ton of things to learn from, but I’m just going to worry about today. ... I'm going to take my time and do what’s best for the football team.”

Sanders himself had some happy words after winning his first career start. He told CBS sideline reporter Tiffany Blackmon during his post-game interview:

“It’s amazing. ... I’m just truly thankful that everything happened.”

He continued by claiming not to have been nervous:

“I didn’t feel anything. ... That’s why I was just excited. I love how the offensive line embraced me when I came in that role, and they understood I’m nothing but business.”

The NFL itself also acknowledged his success, posting a clip of him doing his wristwatch pose as he headed to the locker room:

Shedeur Sanders sends message to detractors after historic win

After Kevin Stefanski, Shedeur Sanders took his turn addressing reporters in the press room. During his post-game conference, he exuded confidence as he reacted to the detractors who had been hoping for him to fail in his first start:

“Everybody starts in different places … but it’s no excuse. You gotta go out there and perform. There’s no choice, There’s no question. Nobody cares that this was one week of prep. Who cares? A lot of people wanna see me fail, and it ain’t gonna happen.”

He also got candid about successfully adjusting his personality to better fit the demands of the starter role - something that he had not held since college:

“That was truly exciting.”

The Browns next host the San Francisco 49ers on November 30. That game is slated to kick off at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
