Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has opened up on his thoughts about the future of quarterback Shedeur Sanders following his NFL debut last Sunday. Sanders came in for Dillon Gabriel in the second half of the Browns’ loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.Different reactions have followed Sanders’ debut, with questions rising about his future with the Browns and the possibility of getting more action. Stefanski addressed the concern during a Monday press conference where he said:“There’s always lessons to be learned, and obviously, there’s always going to be good, and there’s always going to be bad. That’s just part of playing and getting reps, and then part of learning is taking all those coaching points that come with those reps.”He added:“I think it’s all positive. You’re constantly learning as a young football player, constantly learning as a quarterback through all reps. … So all those physical reps add up and will only improve as he continues to get turns.”About Sanders potentially starting for the Browns the rest of the season, Stefanski said:“I’m not going to speculate on that type of thing. I know this—we trust our players, we trust our guys to put in the work, and we’re just going to be solely focused on this game that’s in front of us.”Shedeur Sanders’ NFL debut could’ve gone better, as he only completed 4 of 16 passes for 47 yards and an interception. The Colorado alum was also sacked twice as the Ravens got away with a 23-16 win in Huntington Bank Field.Cam Newton accuses Kevin Stefanski of setting Shedeur Sanders upFormer Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has called out Kevin Stefanski for allegedly setting up Shedeur Sanders to fail. Newton raised the accusation on ESPN’s First Take following Sanders’ NFL debut against the Ravens on Sunday.Newton said:“I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: I do not think Kevin Stefanski wants Shedeur Sanders to succeed in Cleveland. …If I’m Shedeur, or if I’m a Shedeur Sanders fan, I would not want him to take the field because that’s going to consistently be the display we’re going to see.”With Gabriel on concussion protocol, Sanders is expected to earn his first NFL start when the Browns face the Las Vegas Raiders next Sunday. Cleveland (2-8) will be hoping to win its third game of the season against a Raiders team that’s also 2-8.
