Jerry Jones gives verdict on Trevon Diggs’ Cowboys future ahead of trade deadline

The Dallas Cowboys continue to make the headlines for the wrong reasons. The NFC East has been involved in a puzzling situation surrounding All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs.

The Cowboys placed the cornerback into concussion protocol for an unspecified issue, leading him to miss two games. Last week, Diggs was placed on the injured reserve, raising speculations around his future with the team.

However,. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones cleared the air on Diggs' situation with the trade deadline approaching.

"I don't see that today at all," Jones said on Diggs' Cowboys tenure ending. "He's got to get well, and he hasn't been.

Diggs has been placed on the injured reserve because of a reported knee issue in his right leg.

"Diggs' biggest problem is he's injured and it's not the same knee he was doing his rehab with," Jones said. "That's his No. 1 challenge. Unfortunately, he's got a handful of challenges here that are injury-related."

Diggs underwent left knee surgery in December last year and rehabbed during the offseason.

Micah Parsons rips Cowboys for Trevon Diggs' knee issue

Former Cowboys star Micah Parsons, who was traded to the Green Bay Packers at the start of the season after failed extension talks with Dallas, ripped the team for their handling of Trevon Diggs' knee issue.

Parsons accused the Cowboys of rushing back Diggs, leading to another knee issue to the cornernack.

"Honestly, I feel like they f***ed my dog over, you know what I mean?” Parsons said. “He’s coming off a catastrophic knee injury and I just didn't think they did right by him. He didn't participate all camp and he's going out there playing Week 1 and 2. I just don't think you do that to a player like that.

"The type of knee injury he had, they forced him out there. He has no reps really. He’s telling me he was in warmup phase during Week 1. Even with the ramp-up, I just feel like you just don't do that.”

The Cowboys are fighting for a playoff spot and hold second place in the NFC East behind the runaway leaders, the Philadelphia Eagles, with a 3-4-1 record this season.
