"Jaxson Dart has about 2 more years in NFL": Shannon Sharpe torches Giants QB over controversial playstyle after taking scary hit vs. Patriots

Jaxson Dart missed two games due to a concussion sustained in Week 10. The rookie quarterback returned to action in the Giants' Monday Night Football game against the New England Patriots. Dart suffered a scary hit in the Giants' second offensive possession.

NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe saw the hit and expressed worry about Dart's controversial playstyle. Sharpe wrote on X (formerly Twitter),

"At this rate Dart has about 2 more yrs in the NFL. You cannot take those types of hits as player. Let alone a QB."

Sharpe played in the NFL for 14 seasons, and he enjoyed a mostly injury-free career. The Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens icon is worried about the sustainability of Dart's signature play style.

The NFL is a tough league, and it's common to see hard hits. However, quarterbacks are advised to keep such to a minimum to have long and successful careers.

Jaxson Dart promises to keep playing aggressive

Jaxson Dart's performances in Year 1 have been some of the few positives for the Giants in 2025. The Ole Miss Rebels product has amassed a stat line of 1,556 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and three interceptions in 10 games.

However, questions have been asked about the sustainability of his aggressive playstyle. Dart has heard the concerns, but he's not looking to change anytime soon. According to Pro Football Talk, Dart said via a team transcript.

"I feel like I played this way my whole entire life. It should not be any shocker to anybody if you followed along with my career. We are not playing soccer out here. You are going to get hit. Things happen. It’s just part of the game.”

New York Giants fans were understandably worried as Dart took a big hit in the first quarter. The Giants' QB1 scrambled around the right side of the line on a second down on the team’s second offensive possession. He looked to get a few extra yards rather than step out of bounds without taking a hit. However, Patriots linebacker Christian Elliss tracked his run and hit him just short of the first down. Tight end Theo Johnson responded, and the Giants were penalized with a flag. The flag pushed them back 15 yards before a punt.

It remains to be seen whether Jaxson Dart listens to Shannon Sharpe's advise. Next up for him and the Giants is a bye in Week 14 before a matchup against the Washington Commanders.
