Sanders will be up against Titans rookie Cam Ward, who was selected with the first pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Although the Browns rookie was picked in the fifth round of the draft, many fans are expecting the former Colorado star to outperform Ward on Sunday.

However, NFL analyst Jason Whitlock downplayed the notion by highlighting that Ward will be against Myles Garrett, one of the best defensive players in the league, while Sanders will be up against a Titans team that is 1-11 this season.

"One QB will face Myles Garrett. The other QB will face the Titans. Read into that what you will," Whitlock wrote on Sanders potentially having a better game than Ward.

While Sanders has not set the world alight in his brief stint as the Browns starter, Ward is up against a strong defense led by Garrett, who is chasing the single-season sack record.

Titans rookie Cam Ward downplays rivalry with Shedeur Sander ahead of Browns clash

Despite the narrative surrounding the game, Titans rookie Cam Ward admitted that every rookie's journey is different. Ward is not reading too much into the battle against Shedeur Sanders and is focused on helping his team perform better.

“I think every rookie’s journey is different,” Ward said. “He may have a good game this week, a bad game next week. I may have a bad game this week, good game next week. So you really just take it week-to-week. You play the play call and you live the quarterback way of not getting too high or too low in any aspect.

"You really just continue to try to focus on what you can do because at the end of the day, I don’t know what’s going on in their building. I don’t know what he has to deal with on a daily basis in and out of the building. So, I just try to focus on the Titans and doing what I can do to help us get the wins.”

It will be the first head-to-head meeting between two of the most talked-about rookies this season and it will be interesting to see who comes out of the game with bragging rights.
