Darius Slay's time in Pittsburgh came to an end Tuesday when the Steelers decided to waive the veteran cornerback. NBC Sports Philadelphia's John Clark said on Wednesday that the two sides share interest in a reunion should Slay make it through waivers.
Fans wasted no time weighing in on whether the Eagles should give him another shot.
"As much as I like the idea of adding Slay, it doesn't solve the main issue of this team, which is the offense. It's like getting a new gas cap on a car that has no wheels," one fan tweeted.

"Eagles fans: 'Grandpa, come home, the defense forgot how to tackle without you yelling at them," another fan said.
"They can have him. He's washed," one fan said.
More reactions summed up fans' concerns.
"Philly always wanna bring washed players home lmao please do," one fan said.
"He gets hurt 4 times a game," one fan said.
"Oh brother," another fan said.
Pittsburgh signed Darius Slay before the season started, handing him a deal worth $10 million for one year. Things never clicked for the six-time Pro Bowler with the Steelers. He got the start in nine games but didn't perform up to expectations.
Opposing quarterbacks posted a rating above 103 when throwing his direction, according to Next Gen Stats. The team made him inactive for their Buffalo matchup this past Sunday, then cut ties a day later.
Asante Samuel Jr. got promoted from Pittsburgh's practice squad to fill the roster vacancy.
What's next in Darius Slay's NFL journey?

The waiver process works differently now than it did earlier in the year. Every player goes through waivers after the trade deadline passes. Teams can't just release someone and let them sign wherever they want right away anymore.
Philadelphia ranks No. 22 in the current waiver order, so plenty of teams get a crack at Darius Slay first. If nobody claims him, Slay gets to pick his next destination. He spent five seasons in Philadelphia before this year, so the connection runs deep.
