Brian Burns sees an opportunity to unsettle Drake Maye when the New York Giants meet the New England Patriots on Monday. The linebacker pointed to a habit that could create big-play chances for the defense.

Burns anchors a Giants front trying to stop a six-game skid. Maye leads the surging Patriots squad riding a nine-game winning streak and aiming for postseason positioning.

Burns addressed reporters on Wednesday and shared what he observed after studying film of the second-year quarterback.

"I feel like, at times, he's so caught up in making the right play or getting so caught up in his routes downfield, he just forgets about somewhat of who's rushing him, if that makes sense," Burns said.

"It could be a bad thing, it could be a good thing. What I mean by poised is that he takes his time, he makes the right reads and he tries to make the right play. It can also bite you in the butt at a certain amount of times."

New England has allowed 37 sacks this season, and its offensive line is shorthanded after losing multiple starters to injuries last week. Left tackle Will Campbell is sidelined with an MCL sprain, while right guard Jared Wilson will miss Monday's game with a high ankle sprain.

Brian Burns enters Monday's matchup with 54 tackles and 13 sacks, along with two forced fumbles, seven passes defended and 21 quarterback hits. New England will rely on Vederian Lowe or Marcus Bryant to protect Drake Maye’s blind side.

Before detailing the quarterback's flaw, Burns said he respects his skill set.

"He's talented," Burns told reporters on Wednesday. "Talented arm. I'm not really too sure yet about how quick he is to process everything, but I do feel like he makes the right plays at the right time. He does seem to be poised, maybe a little bit too poised, in the pocket, but just overall, he's been showing his talent, for sure."

Maye showed flashes of inconsistency in Sunday’s win over Cincinnati. He threw a pick-six early in the second quarter and missed several routine throws before finding rhythm later in the game.
