“I don't want to downplay what anybody hears”: Nick Sirianni downplays Jalen Hurts’ negative report concerns amid Eagles’ 2-game skid

The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a frustrating 24-15 loss against the Chicago Bears on Friday, with questions being asked about the Eagles' slumping offense.

The Eagles' offense has been criticized for its lack of a running game this season, and according to reports over the weekend, it is because quarterback Jalen Hurts requested to reduce quarterback-designed runs before the season.

However, Philadelphia coach Nick Sirianni downplayed the narrative, saying the Eagles' quarterback is willing to adapt to any style the team needs to win, and they do not pay attention to outside noise.

"Jalen has proven that he'll do anything he needs to do to win each and every game...I don't want to downplay what anybody hears with reports, but like we are not focused on that. It's not like, 'Hey this report was out, let's Jalen and I have a conversation about it.' If we involved ourselves in all of those things, I wouldn't have time to do anything else."

The Eagles coach also said that they are trying to protect their quarterback who is equally adept at holding the ball as he is running the ball.

"We're always thinking about how to protect Jalen and make sure that he is healthy for the long haul," Sirianni said. "Different plans have different reasons of why you run different things, and like I said, we will do everything we need to do to help this offense get rolling.

"Jalen's talented in running the ball. He is talented in also holding the backside when he doesn't run the football, so a lot of different ways to do that. Again, always looking at everything and how we can improve."

While the Eagles are 8-4 for the season, they are 4-4 in their last eight games after a 4-0 start. The offense has copped criticism, including quarterback Jalen Hurts. However, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni took the blame on himself for the team's unconvincing performances over the last few weeks.

“Of course, none of us are doing a good enough job right now,” Sirianni said. “We all have to look internally and get better. When I say that, hopefully you guys always understand that I'm looking at myself first."

The Eagles will look to get back to winning ways when they take on the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium next Monday.
