Jason Kelce is disappointed with Jaxson Dart's possible return as a starter after Jameis Winston's performance against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

The ex-Eagles center praised Winston on Wednesday, calling him "the greatest player to ever play."

"They almost pulled it off, dude," Kelce said (43:50), via the "New Heights" podcast. "If you would have told me before the game the Giants might beat the f*cking Detroit Lions, I'd be like, you're f*cking out of your mind. I love Jameis Winston. I'm so kind of upset that Jaxson Dart's gonna start this week that we don't get to see another version of this.

"Like, I hate saying that, because I also like watching Jaxson Dart play. I don't care what quarterback is playing in the NFL. I want to see Jameis Winston. 'Jason, would you rather see Tom Brady or Jay? I want to see Jameis.' That's the greatest player that ever played the game."

Winston started in place of Dart, who was placed under concussion protocol. Although the Giants lost 34-27, Winston had a strong performance. He passed for 366 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught a 33-yard touchdown pass on a trick play.

Winston delivered in his first start in Week 11 versus the Green Bay Packers as well. He completed 19 of 29 passes for 201 yards and one interception. The veteran quarterback also rushed three times for 10 yards and one touchdown. His completion rate is 65.5% in his limited appearances this season.

New York's offense has shown flashes of effectiveness with Winston under center, but the team's results have remained poor as the defense continues to struggle.

Jaxson Dart nearing return as Giants monitor concussion progress

Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart has missed the Giants' last two games after suffering a concussion in Week 10 against the Bears. He advanced through the fourth stage of the NFL’s five-step concussion protocol last week but was limited in practice. He failed log a full session before the Lions game on Sunday.

If he practices fully this week, he could return versus the Patriots. The Giants may also wait until Week 15 since they are already eliminated from playoff contention and have a Week 14 bye. Jameis Winston has run the offense efficiently with back-to-back 20+ point games in Dart’s absence, although both matchups ended in blown fourth-quarter leads.
