Two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant does not believe the Kansas City Chiefs' struggles this season will diminish Patrick Mahomes' legacy.

On Friday's episode of the "Up & Adams" show, Durant was asked if missing the playoffs might negatively impact the three-time Super Bowl champion's legacy. The Houston Rockets forward was quick to defend Mahomes, pointing to his successful career so far.

"What kind of a question is that?" Durant said. "That makes no sense at all. If anybody is questioning Pat Mahomes' legacy from one off year, he can miss the playoffs for the rest of his career, I don't give a damn. This man is Patrick Mahomes.

"When he coming out there, how many championships he got? Three? Like, come on now. Are we going to question Pat Mahomes, Chris Jones, Travis Kelce? He's still an all-time great, potentially the greatest of all time."

The Chiefs are 6-6, third in the AFC West behind the Chargers and the Broncos. Back-to-back losses have significantly diminished their playoff chances.

Their latest setback was a 31-28 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving. Mahomes completed 23 of 34 passes for 261 yards and four touchdowns.

Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown on Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs' playoff chances

Despite a two-game losing streak, the Chiefs are still in the playoff conversation. However, they cannot afford any more slipups. On Wednesday, Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown shared his perspective on the Chiefs' playoff chances.

"It's not cooked for the Chiefs until it's cooked, so they're still in it," St. Brown said on his podcast (Timestamp: 3:18). "They're not ruled out of the playoffs yet. So, until they're ruled out of the playoffs, don't rule them out because of who they have at quarterback, their winning history, they know how to win games.

"They've won games in the past. They might not be winning as many games this season, but they've still won some games this season. And it's not like they're getting blown out. They're losing close games, a bunch of close games. So, no, to answer your question, no, they're not cooked."
