Contrary to their record the Denver Broncos may not be the best team in the AFC. That’s according to NFL analyst Damien Woody, who’s not a believer in Bo Nix. The 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft has the Broncos leading the AFC with a record of 10-2. On Monday’s episode of “Get Up,” Woody was asked if the Broncos were the best team in the AFC right now.

“No because I don’t trust the quarterback,” Woody responded (Time Stamp 0:33).
“Bo Nix is like being on a roller coaster. You’re gonna get some great moments from Box Nix. You’re also gonna get some head-scatching moments from Bo Nix,” Woody added (Time Stamp 0:43).

While the Broncos are on a nine-game winning streak, seven of those victories were by a single score, including Sunday’s 27-26 overtime win over the Washington Commanders.

Nix has been at his best when a game is on the line in the fourth quarter or overtime, though the Broncos have found themselves in a hole at times early in ball games.

“If he’s (Nix) more consistent than I can absolutely say yes, but until then I’m still a big question mark on him,” Woody concluded (Time Stamp 0:53).

Even though the Broncos continue winning, Nix is 11th in the league in passing yards at 2,742. He’s thrown nine interceptions to go along with his 19 touchdown tosses.

Woody is the only person with concerns about the sophomore quarterback. NFL podcast host Colin Cowherd said last month on “The Herd” that he wouldn’t be surprised if the team decided to move on from Nix and draft another quarterback in the 2026 Draft.

Sean Payton raving about Bo Nix

While some critics may not have faith in Bo Nix, it appears his coach has all the confidence in the world in him.

Sean Payton said after their victory over Washington on Sunday that Nix’s confidence in himself is beginning to show. He says his performances and throws in clutch situations have been “amazing.”

For him, that’s what’s really impressive, adding that he’s been doing a great job at maintaining his composure in those spots.

The Super Bowl-winning coach has noted Nix’s maturity while adding how far he’s come in only his second year under center. On Sunday, Nix led the Broncos on a five-play scoring drive in overtime, capping it off with a touchdown pass to RJ Harvey.
