Nick Sirianni sent a short but strong message about the Philadelphia Eagles' past issues with the Green Bay Packers. After clashing in Week 1 and the wild-card round of the 2024 NFL season, they will meet again in primetime in a high-flying duel at Lambeau Field.

Before the game, Sirianni was asked if he remembered that the Packers were the ones behind the proposal to ban the Eagles' version of the quarterback sneak, the "tush push." The coach rejected that notion and said he has moved on from that situation.

"I don't get wrapped up too much into that. No," he said, per Zach Berman.

The Packers' proposal to ban the play, citing that it could be detrimental to players' health, got 22 positive votes. They missed the mark by two votes, which showed that most of the league wasn't happy with the play the Eagles mastered.

Both teams enter this game leading their respective divisions. The Eagles (6-2) are set to defend their Super Bowl LIX win, while the Packers (5-2-1) have shown glimpses of brilliance, but they have also lost easy matchups.

The Packers have won only four of their last five games against the Eagles. It was a 30-16 win in December 2020.

There might be extra motivation for the Eagles to win this game, but Nick Sirianni has shrugged that off. However, he made it clear his team would continue to implement and better the play ahead of this season.

Nick Sirianni called it "unfair" that teams wanted the ban the tush push

Back in February, after the tush push was put under scrutiny at the NFL scouting combine, Nick Sirianni said it was "unfair" that some teams wanted the play banned simply because the Eagles were too good at it.

"I can't tell you how many times we've practiced the snap, we've practiced the play -- it's not a play that's easy to practice, so there's different ways we've figured out how to practice it -- the complements that come off of it that can create explosive plays," he said.
"The fact that it's [portrayed] as an automatic thing, we work really hard, and our guys are talented at this play, and so it's a little insulting to say we're good at it so it's automatic. We work really hard at it."

While the Eagles haven't been as dominant as last season, they are still the team to beat, and the Packers have unfinished business with them.
