"His oldest kid is older than Tyler Warren": Travis Kelce stunned after Philip Rivers signs with Colts after Daniel Jones' season-ending injury

The Indianapolis Colts moved swiftly to cover for Daniel Jones' season-ending injury by signing veteran quarterback Philip Rivers to the practice squad this week.

The Colts made the signing official on Wednesday, making the 44-year-old quarterback the oldest active player in the league. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce reacted to the Colts' signing of Rivers.

Kelce was stunned by the signing and the Chiefs star highlighted the age difference between Rivers and Colts tight end Tyler Warren on the "New Heights" podcast.

"He just got assigned to their practice squad. He hasn't played in the NFL since 2020 but is getting reunited with Shane Steichen, who was on the Chargers' staff and interim offensive coordinator in 2019.

"Philip is potentially the first grandfather to play in the NFL. That's crazy. His oldest kid is older than their star tight end, Tyler Warren, which is a pretty staggering fact.He is also older than his head coach, Steichen, and his offensive coordinator, again Philip is 44."

Rivers' eldest child is two months older than Colts rookie Leonard. Leading up to this year's draft, Rivers worked with the Colts rookie in their hometown in Fairhope, Alabama.

While Philip Rivers passed Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers as the oldest active player in the NFL, his playing status could impact his Half of Fame status.

Rivers, who retired after the 2020 season, became eligible for the Hall of Fame after being retired for five years. Rivers has been named a semi-finalist for the class of 2026 in his first year of eligibility.

However, if Rivers is signed to the Colts' active roster, he won't be eligible for the Hall of Fame, with his candidacy pushed back to 2031. Rivers will wear the same jersey No. 17 he had worn in his final NFL season with the Colts.
