Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders saw his first real NFL action on Sunday. He stepped in for Dillon Gabriel after a concussion and played in a rough 23–16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Sanders finished 4-of-16 for 47 yards with an interception and two sacks. However, the fifth-round pick showed no hesitation in rising to the moment. After the game, he told reporters he felt “fulfilled” to finally retake NFL hits and insisted he never doubted his ability to lead a late scoring drive.

The results weren’t there for Sanders to show, but Coach Prime's son made it clear that the confidence remains.

"I think you've seen, it was just rough, overall. It was a rough day, overall. But the thing that I was excited about is just being able to get out there. This is the first time I got hit since my last game at Colorado," Sanders said postgame.

Sanders earned respect inside the locker room for his post-match conference. Myles Garrett, in his postgame presser, said that Sanders tried to shoulder the loss himself.

"He spoke after the game and he wanted to pin it on himself and his performance,” Garrett stated. "But we’re not going to allow him to do that. It’s a team game. We’re all in this together."

Shedeur Sanders addresses Dillon Gabriel exit to concussion protocol

Shedeur Sanders made it clear he wasn’t celebrating Dillon Gabriel’s early exit after the fellow rookie left Sunday’s 23–16 loss to the Ravens with a concussion. Sanders entered to loud cheers from fans eager to see the former Colorado star run the offense, but he pushed back on the idea that Gabriel’s struggles should be applauded.

“I appreciate the fans… but I don’t really like him not feeling comfortable and confident when he gets out there,” Sanders said. “It’s not helping the team.”

Gabriel had completed 7 of 10 passes for 68 yards before exiting, while Sanders went 4-of-16 for 47 yards and a pick in relief. If Gabriel clears concussion protocol, Stefanski expects him to reclaim the starting job.
