A.J. Brown appears to have finally come unglued. That’s according to many fans, who say the Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver looked visibly upset during a recent interview. On Thursday, the three-time Pro Bowler was asked to respond to the speculation that he’s not the same player he once was. His response:

“I guess Saquon (Barkley) ain’t the same player either,” said Brown (Time Stamp 0:07).

The offense has been the subject of widespread criticism, struggling to get things going this season. Brown has often been the forgotten man in the receiving corps without a single target in the opening half of their first regular season outing versus the Dallas Cowboys.

Some people believe the team’s offensive woes are finally getting to Brown.

“He’s clearly frustrated that the offense is an AJ problem when other players are underperforming but they’re not held to the same standard,” said one person.

“A man with a sub par QB,” suggested another.
“Gotta bench this guy at some point,” one fan recommended.

In nine games this season, Brown has accumulated just 457 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Barkley who led the league in rushing last season is averaging just 3.8 yards per carry in 2025. As a team, the Eagles are 17th in team rushing, averaging a mere 115.2 yards per game. Jalen Hurts, meanwhile, is only averaging 3.7 yards per carry, the lowest of his NFL career. He’s been sacked 26 times after 10 games.

For some, Brown’s frustrations are an ongoing theme for the former Tennessee Titan, while others think the coach is to blame.

Although Brown often looks visibly frustrated when asked about the offenses struggles, Barkley has often tried to spin things into a positive light when questioned. Nick Sirianni’s offensive unit, meanwhile, isn’t doing a lot of things right at the moment, currently ranked 25th in the league with 300.1 offensive yards per game.

Brown is reportedly frustrated at Eagles staff

While Brown threw out Barkley’s name to the media, there’s speculation that he’s more upset with the Eagles staff.

Before their game against the Detroit Lions, he was on a livestream playing Madden. He referred to his 2025 season as a “s**t show,” on the stream.

Even though he called out Barkley, some people believe that Brown isn’t frustrated with him but rather the coaching staff. For some, Brown’s words are an indirect message that offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo needs to get fired. His remarks about Barkley have been seen as a way to say it’s not him and that the running back is regressing, but rather it’s an offense that’s not suited to either player.

Patullo was promoted to offensive coordinator after Kellen Moore was hired as head coach of the New Orleans Saints.
