Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby discussed his on-field run-in with Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert. During Las Vegas’ 31-14 loss to LA on Sunday, Crosby shoved Herbert after a big play and was immediately flagged. The replay sparked speculation about whether he exaggerated the contact.

Crosby made it clear on Tuesday that he believes Herbert received preferential treatment.

“They’re going to get special treatment when it comes to that type of stuff,” Crosby said, via "The Rush" podcast. “If it was a lineman and he flopped like that, they probably wouldn’t call it. I gave him a little love tap, and he flopped like crazy.”

Crosby said Herbert shouted in his ear after the play, which caused him to react. However, despite being frustrated, Crosby still took accountability.

“I shouldn’t have even reacted," Crosby said. "That’s on me. But I respect him.”

Crosby also explained that he tried to settle things with Herbert. He said he walked over to the quarterback to confront him directly.

“I’m like, ‘Come on bro, you’re better than that,’” Crosby said on Tuesday, via the "Let’s Go!" podcast. “He wasn’t looking at me, so I forced him. ‘No, dap me up. Don’t be doing that.’ He had a great little sell job on the fall. It is what it is.”

Herbert completed 15 of 20 passes for 151 yards, two touchdowns and one interception despite playing with a fractured non-throwing hand. Meanwhile, Crosby recorded nine tackles (six solo), two sacks and four tackles for loss.

The Raiders offense continued to struggle, recording just 156 total yards, while the Chargers had a strong running game and big plays to pull away.

Maxx Crosby's brief dustup with Justin Herbert drew attention, but both players moved on from it. The LA Chargers quarterback praised Crosby after the game.

“Yeah, like I said, it’s an emotional game, and I’ve got nothing but respect for him as a player and as a teammate," Herbert told reporters. "But at the end of the day, I could have kept my cool a little bit better too.”

Raiders coach Pete Carroll echoed the praise.

“He's just that darn good, so thrilled about that," Carroll said. "Does it elevate other guys? Yeah, (Las Vegas defensive end) Malcolm's (Koonce) coming along. Malcolm's had a couple sacks last couple weeks, and getting back into it and helping us be productive. Maxx has a tremendous impact on this team and continues to."

LA (8-4) is second in the AFC West, two spots higher than Las Vegas (2-10) in the division standings.
