The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a 22-19 loss against the Los Angeles Chargers in overtime on Monday. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts' underwhelming outing led to the team's third consecutive loss.

The Eagles' offense has faced criticism this season for its disjointed plays, and Hurts' disastrous outing on Monday further emphasized that point. Hurts threw a career-high four interceptions against the Chargers, including an interception on the final play in overtime.

Hurts had a game to forget as the reigning Super Bowl MVP made unwanted NFL history in the first half. Hurts threw an interception to Chargers defensive lineman Da'Shawn Hand in the second quarter.

Hand started to run with the ball but was stripped for a fumble. Hurts recovered the ball but he was stripped as well by Chargers defensive tackle Jamaree Caldwell. The scrappy play resulted in the Eagles quarterback becoming the first player in NFL history to turn the ball over twice on one play.

Although the Eagles fell to an 8-5 record, they remain in first place in the NFC East, with the Dallas Cowboys second at 6-6-1.

Jason Kelce urged to come out of retirement amid Eagles' losing streak

The Eagles offensive line has had it troubles this season and after Landon Dickerson went down in the second quarter on Monday, NFL broadcaster Joe Buck called for Jason Kelce to unrentire.

"Maybe the Eagles with these banged-up interior offensive linemen could call on our friend, 38-year-old Jason Kelce," Buck said.

NFL legend Troy Aikman agreed with the notion, saying:

"I wouldn’t be surprised if they haven’t already at some point this year, even last year,” Aikman said. “I think I’d be knocking on his door every week to try to get him to come back. He can still do it.”

Jason Kelce has been off the gridiron since announcing his retirement in 2024. The former Eagles had an illustrious stint with the team that lasted more than a decade, earning his seven Pro-Bowl and six All-Pro selections.
