Shedeur Sanders' Cleveland Browns suffered a 31-29 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 14 on Sunday. The Browns had a chance to tie the game late in the fourth quarter, but failed to convert a 2-point attempt. Browns quarterback Sanders was not on the field for the play, despite having a strong game until then.
After the loss, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski didn't offer much on why Sanders was removed for the 2-point attempt. However, former Cleveland coach Eric Mangini pinned the blame on Sanders, while referring to the QB's error earlier in the game.
"Here's the reality of the situation," Mangini said on FS1's "First Take" on Monday. "Here's what happened is they went for a two-point conversion earlier in the game that they didn't get. What happened? Fumble. Who did? Shedeur. He fumbled it.
"So then this two-point conversion, which is a Wildcat play, which they've run consistently since Shedeur's been playing, they've run this Wildcat package, they've scored four touchdowns and an extra point. They've been running or practicing this play since August. It's a play that they've run several times; it's a package which they've used extensively in the red zone with success. Shedeur fumbled the snap on the previous two-point conversion.

"But for some reason, because, and this is a gotta have it situation, so you want to run plays that you practice, and got to have it situations and not let the emotion of the moment take you to some other play that you have in practice and run that."
Mangini coached the Browns for two seasons from 2009 to 2010. He posted a 5-11 record in each season.
Sanders had a great outing against the Titans. He went 23 of 42 for 364 yards and three touchdowns with an interception, while adding 29 yards and a TD on three carries.
Sanders has now lost two games as a starter after leading the Browns to a win against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12, which was his first NFL start.
Shedeur Sanders to remain Cleveland Browns' QB1 for rest of the 2025 NFL season

On Monday, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that Shedeur Sanders will retain the QB1 role for the rest of the season.
The Browns (3-10) have no chance of making the playoffs. However, Sanders can use the upcoming opportunities to prove that Cleveland can build a team around him.
The Browns will face the Chicago Bears in Week 15 on Sunday.
