The Athletic's NFL insider Dianna Russini wrote on Saturday that multiple offensive players have grown frustrated with Hurts' approach.

"After doing some digging and asking people inside the #Eagles building, it was explained that multiple offensive players have grown frustrated with Jalen Hurts’ approach this season, particularly against zone coverage," Russini wrote. "They believe he’s become hesitant in tight windows, leaning on checkdowns or scrambles instead of trusting what’s open downfield."

Earlier this week, DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown shared their frustrations with the state of the offense. On Tuesday, Smith said the offense didn't feel good at all against the Green Bay Packers.

“Offensively, we need to be better," Smith declared. "The defense is playing their ass off. We need to help those guys out. We need to be better. That's gonna come. You have your up and down. We have good weeks, we have bad weeks, and this week wasn't one of our best.”

A day later, Brown made it clear that he's trying to do his best on offense and put his team in a good position to win, rather than collecting individual statistics.

"If we're really focused on winning and doing our job, we can't keep slapping the Band-Aid over the defense doing their job and getting us out of trouble," Brown said. "It's not about, I don't care about winning and all I care about is stats. No! Week after week, we're not contributing, not doing our job on offense."

The Eagles (7-2) are top of the NFC East, but they have relied heavily on their defense. They rank 23rd in yards/game (303.2), 25th in passing yards/game (191.7) and 12th in points/game (24.2).

Cam Newton warns Eagles amid AJ Brown, Jalen Hurts tension

Although the Eagles have played well this season, they may be experiencing internal issues that could impact their performance in the future. Former NFL MVP Cam Newton warned the team about the "ticking time bomb" they have on their roster.

"The Philadelphia Eagles is a walking ticking time bomb of dysfunction," he said on Friday's episode of "First Take." "It's all in their resume. It's all in the things that they have been trying to do. The Philadelphia Eagles have been masking, putting mascara, putting makeup...so much because they have been winning."

This isn't an ideal situation for a team with that collection of talent.

The Eagles will need their offense firing on all cylinders when they host the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
