Drake Maye loves throwing to Stefon Diggs, who has accounted for 659 yards and three touchdowns on 59 receptions. And he has a joke to share about his receiver.

Addressing the media on Wednesday ahead of Sunday's game at the Cincinnati Bengals, Diggs revealed that he had fractured his finger recently, but that it was also "the least of my worries." When asked about it, Maye joked:

"Stef’s probably dramatic. Every time he gets hit, he lays on the ground and acts like he just got hit by an 18-wheeler or something."

“He's awesome. He’s got great hands. One of the best I’ve seen. He’s effortless catching it.”

He also had a slightly hilarious reason about his current dominance -- he is No. 1 in the league in passing yards and completion percentage and sits inside the top five in passer rating and passing touchdowns:

“Probably the reason I am is we haven’t had a bye yet.”

And finally, he also responded to Cam Newton's criticism of him based on the Patriots' ease of schedule:

“I don’t even know what show he’s on. I think they get paid to make remarks and certain comments.”

Patriots HC Mike Vrabel compares Drake Maye to Baseball Hall of Famer

The rise of Drake Maye has drawn comparisons not just to Tom Brady, but apparently to athletes in other sports as well, like San Antonio Spurs "unicorn" Victor Wembanyama.

Also on Wednesday, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel talked about his quarterback's development under offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and position coach Ashton Grant:

“It’s like a pitcher. I don’t know if there’s a pitching coach that taught Greg Maddux how to paint the plate and put the ball wherever he wanted. So I think there’s some natural skill there. But I think they work on those things.”

He continued:

“They work on platform and throwing off different places, and still remaining accurate, and climbing the pocket and working with a base and all those things. And then there’s other times it’s just natural athletic ability, hand-eye coordination and putting the ball in good spots.”

Kickoff for the game at the Bengals is at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
