The Shedeur Sanders saga has been one of the biggest storylines in the NFL this season, and a new chapter has unfolded. Seemingly everyone has caught wind of what's been going on, including the Oval Office. After a start to his professional career in which so much went wrong, something went right on Sunday, and President Donald Trump took notice.

In response to Sanders' first career win against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12, Trump posted his reaction on social media. In a screenshot posted on X by Ari Meirov on Monday of what appeared to be a post on Truth Social, the president called Sanders "GREAT."

In his first start, Sanders completed 55% of his passes for 209 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. The touchdown throw came on a throw to running back Dylan Sampson behind the line of scrimmage that the back took to the endzone in a big yardage play.

The Las Vegas Raiders have just two wins in 2025 through 12 weeks. The Raiders defeated Drake Maye and the New England Patriots in Week 1 and Cam Ward and the Tennessee Titans on Oct. 12. Ward lost to the Raiders by a score of 10-20, essentially the opposite score of Sanders' 24-10 win over Las Vegas.

Not many rookie quarterbacks win their first career start, but Sanders was able to do so, completing the accomplishment that Ward failed to achieve. As such, Sanders advocates have as much ammunition as ever to declare that the NFL made a mistake drafting Ward days ahead of Sanders.

Of course, defeating the struggling Raiders, who parted ways with offensive coordinator Chip Kelly in response, is only reaching base camp on the mountainous climb that is the NFL.

The Browns will face a much more difficult San Francisco 49ers unit on Nov. 30, but perhaps one of the most suddenly underrated matchups of the season could say even more. Sanders could face Ward on Sunday, Dec. 7, assuming the Browns continue to hand starts to Sanders and Ward can remain on the field.
