Jaxson Dart has showcased his exceptional mobility pretty well since he became the New York Giants’ starting quarterback. The rookie quarterback has been able to move around on the field, gaining a lot of yards on the ground despite the Giants' struggle to get results. However, this has exposed him to a lot of harm on the field. Before returning against the New England Patriots last week, Dart had sat out the previous two games due to concussion protocol. The quarterback has also been checked for a concussion in four of the last eight games.Amid the danger he exposed himself to by running the ball, Russell Wilson disclosed the advice he's given to Jaxson Dart on CBS Sports' NFL Today+ on Sunday. Dart took over the starting role from Russell, and the veteran has taken the responsibility of mentoring the rookie.“I think first of all, he's dynamic,” Wilson said. “Be you, don't change that, be special, be competitive, you got to be competitive. I remember making plays and running around and spinning out of things.“But I think the biggest thing is once you get into free space, being able to get down. And I told him in the game the other day after this hit, I came over the sideline to him and just kind of looked at him and say, ‘Make sure you get out of bounds, bro.’“Don't play with that. He knows. The good thing about a quarterback room, our quarterback room is full of baseball players. We know how to slide. He's just got to do it. And I think that he has competitive juice, just knowing the time and place.”Jaxson Dart believes big hits are part of the gameJaxson Dart absorbed a brutal, bone-rattling hit from Christian Elliss near the sideline during the first quarter of the Giants’ 33-15 loss to the Patriots on Monday night. While there are a lot of talks around his safety in those plays, the quarterback believes big hits are part of football when questioned about it on Tuesday.“I understand the question, but this is football," Dart said. "I'm going to get hit if I'm in the pocket or outside the pocket. I feel like I played this way my whole entire life. It shouldn't be any shocker to anybody if you followed along with my career. We're not playing soccer out here. You're going to get hit. Things happen. It's just part of the game.”Jaxson Dart could have stepped out of bounds while making the run to avoid getting hit. However, the decision to continue rushing for a first down raises concerns about the safety of his decision-making. The rookie would go on to commend Christian Elliss for the big hit.
