The Athletic's Diana Russini has come forward to defend herself after Steve Sarkisian called her out publicly for "false reports" linking him to the Tennessee Titans in the NFL. On Tuesday, on "The Dan Le Batard Show", the NFL insider doubled down on her take about the Texas Longhorns coach."Theres's a million reasons why a program doesn't want anyone to ever know anything except that Steve Sarkisian wants to be the head coach of Texas for a very long period of time," Russini said. "Those words were never said, right?"Like, CAA never said it, Steve Sarkisian never said it, I wanted to hear the say that and they never did. Now that being said, most college coaches want to coach in the NFL. At a time where the college landscape is really difficult to navigate and there's a lot of unknown, I think it makes all the sense in the world to always have options. The problem is, nobody wants the world to know that you're looking, just in case."On Saturday, Diana Russini reported that the Texas coach was interested in the Titans job after they fired Brian Callahan after a 1-5 start to the season. This sent the college football world into hysteria. After the Longhorns' 45-38 victory over Mississippi State, Steve Sarkisian addressed these reports during the post-game press conference. Even his agency released an official statement disregarding the insider's reports."It really pisses me off that one person can make a report that, in turn, the entire media and sports world runs with as factual to the point that my agency had to put a statement out, which they've never done hisorically," Sarkisian said.Sarkisian also highlighted how he had to release a public statement to prevent panic in Texas' locker room and among his players. He is currently in the middle of his fifth campaign with the program and his second year in the SEC. The No.20 Longhorns are 6-2 after Saturday's victory over Mississippi State.Ex-NFL star Taylor Lewan shares his thoughts on reports linking Steve Sarkisian to the TitansOn Tuesday, on the "Up & Adams" show, retired Titans star Taylor Lewan dropped his two cents on the Texas coach potentially joining the Titans as Brian Callahan's replacement."If I'm Sark, and I look at all the things that I have going for me in Austin, Texas; he's got Texas money, he's got oil money, he's got the infrastructure around him to be successful, he's got his pick of the litter when it comes to every player that comes out of there, Texas is a major place for recruit," Lewan said."And then if I'm Sark and I'm like, 'Oh, I would like to coach in the NFL,' and the Titans woulb be the option, just unbiasedly, looking at the franchise right now, it's not competitive. ... If I'm Sark, I would want to stay in Texas too."Despite the reports, Steve Sarkisian is focused on competing for a playoff spot this year. The Longhorns are gearing up to face the No.9 Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday at noon ET.
