The Pittsburgh Steelers waived Darius Slay on December 2, 2025. The Buffalo Bills promptly claimed the former Pro Bowler, but Slay has opted against reporting to Buffalo.The Super Bowl LIX champion has now revealed the reason behind rejecting the Bills.While speaking on the 'Speak Easy Show', he said,"I just got out of Pittsburgh. I don't feel like packing up and moving again. I'm like bro I'm 13 years in. If they called me when I was 28, 29, I might."He continued,"You know what I'm saying because that's a top organization. They got a lot of great things going on there. If they win, they go to the playoffs, and they have a franchise quarterback. It wasn't a bad fit, it just caught me at a bad time, honestly."Darius Slay has played for three teams in his NFL career. He spent seven seasons in Detroit, five in Philadelphia, and just over half a season in Pittsburgh. Going to spend a couple of months in Buffalo wasn't on his itinerary.Slay commended the Bills on how they are running their organization. According to ESPN, the six-time Pro Bowler is considering retirement.While speaking to Adam Schefter, Slay's agent, Drew Rosenhaus said,"Slay is honored that a first-class organization like the Bills claimed him, but he is going to take some time away from football right now and decide in the next few days if he wants to keep playing."Slay recorded a stat line of 3 passes defensed, one fumble recovery, 36 total tackles, and one tackle for loss in ten games with the Pittsburgh Steelers this season. He is just a season removed from helping the Eagles win Super Bowl LIX.If Slay does retire, he'll go down as one of the better cornerbacks of his era. He has amassed a career stat line of 28 interceptions, 163 passes defended, and 655 tackles in 187 games.
