Cam Skattebo getting injured may prove to be a bigger loss to the New York Giants than their defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles yesterday. The rookie running back suffered an ankle dislocation in the second quarter. He was forced to be carted off in an air cast as his teammates looked on in disbelief.Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart and wide receiver Darius Slayton, along with other teammates, shared emotional messages for Skattebo on Instagram after the game. Dart wrote,“Got your back no matter what, dawg. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the 23-year-old underwent emergency surgery to repair the dislocated ankle.As per ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, the injury was classified as an “open dislocation,” meaning there was an open wound or tear around the joint. This is a severe form of trauma that requires immediate surgical attention. Rapoport also reported that Skattebo’s long-term outlook remains optimistic.“If all goes well, he should be back with no issues for 2026,” Rapoport said.Giants coach also confirmed that Skattebo’s surgery “went well.” In Skattebo’s absence, Tyrone Tracy Jr. will take over as Giants RB1. The RB depth chart now features Tracy, veteran Devin Singletary, and practice squad call-up Dante Miller.
