Saints veteran defensive end Cam Jordan talked about his future on Wednesday, discussing whether he’ll finish his career in New Orleans. He admitted that his thinking has shifted after years of assuming he would either play for the team or just walk away from football.

“I don't know if I've ever considered any of that,” Jordan told reporters. “I left that for the uppers to figure out. If they didn't want me, there’s 31 other teams.”

Jordan stressed that the conversation is no longer as simple as it once was.

“In my mind it’s always playing versus retirement but again maybe it is not,” Jordan said. “As we look at the last couple of years, maybe you do have to look around.”

Jordan is in his 17th season and has long maintained a “Saints or retire” stance. New Orleans (2-10) has struggled this campaign and is at the bottom of the NFC South.

Fan reactions to Jordan’s post were supportive. Many insisted that he deserves a shot at a ring, as long as it won't be with a rival like the Falcons.

Cam Jordan proves he isn’t done yet with a late surge in the season

Cam Jordan recorded two sacks against the Dolphins on Sunday, pushing his season total to 6.5. It's his highest since 2022 and tied him with Saints legend Rickey Jackson for 17th on the all-time list. Jordan said on Wednesday that he felt “reenergized” after struggling through 2024, when he believed coaches were phasing him out.

“I was like, ‘They’re trying to put me out to pasture,’" Jordan said, via ESPN. "I’ve got too much love for this game.”

The defensive end credited the coaching changes following Dennis Allen’s firing and Todd Grantham’s exit.

"Once the position coach left, it's like the light opened up," Jordan said. "It was like, 'Hey Cam, we'll give you a chance.' That's all I've ever asked."

Now under Saints defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, Jordan leads the team in sacks and pressures.
