C.J. Stroud's Week 9 matchup on Sunday against the Denver Broncos came to an abrupt and concerning end in the second quarter. The Houston Texans quarterback took a hit to the head after attempting to slide during a scramble and left the pitch. Most return by 2nd week," Chona tweeted.The injury occurred during a third-and-8 situation when Stroud scrambled up the middle, gaining six yards before sliding just short of a first down. Broncos cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine made contact with him, hitting his chest and shoulder. The collision sent Stroud crashing onto the turf, with the back of his head hitting the field hard.A penalty was initially flagged on Abrams-Draine for unnecessary roughness. However, officials reviewed the play and changed the call after determining there was no direct contact to Stroud's head or neck area. The quarterback was able to walk to the sideline on his own.He was taken to the blue medical tent for further evaluation. Stroud was later escorted to the locker room for more tests and was eventually ruled out with a concussion.He completed 6 of 10 passes for 79 yards and recorded two carries for 12 rushing yards.
