Earlier this year, former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton made headlines when he said he would not swap his MVP award from 2015 for a Super Bowl ring, having lost a big game to the Denver Broncos later that season. Many fans and analysts were left surprised by Newton's comments, with some claiming the former QB was selfish for putting his personal achievements over the team's success.

On Monday, Pro Football Hall of Famer Brett Favre shared his opinion on whether he would trade his MVP awards for more Super Bowls.

“I was fortunate enough to win three MVPs, and I would trade ’em all for a championship," Favre said on his "4th & Favre" show (20:30). "I would’ve played for $200, I loved to play the game. And I played the game to win.”

“People say, ‘What do you think about the most? The Super Bowl win, or the Super Bowl lost.’ I think about the Super Bowl loss. And how many opportunities that we had to go back. To me, it was only about winning and getting to the Big Dance, and winning that. As pleased as I was with my career, I wish I would’ve won more championships."

Favre won the Super Bowl with the Packers in 1997. He won three straight MVP awards from 1995–1997 and earned 11 Pro Bowl honors across his career.

Favre also said that he would happily trade his MVP awards if it meant he could finish his career with more Super Bowl rings.

On Monday, Cam Newton appeared on ESPN's "First Take" and discussed the Kansas City Chiefs' struggles. He also warned Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes that the younger generation of QBs is coming for his crown.

"Patrick Mahomes has been playing elite ever since he got the starting nod for Kansas City," Newton said. "Guys around those [other] teams are picking up their level of play, which in essence will point the finger back at the Kansas City Chiefs to say, 'Are you guys going to keep staying ahead of the game?' and that's gonna be the biggest question."

The Chiefs (6-7) are in danger of missing the playoffs this season. They have won the AFC West title for the past nine years, but cannot win the divisional title this season.
