Antonio Brown could be in for years of hard time. The four-time First-team All-Pro is facing up to 30 years behind bars after being charged with attempted murder.The alleged charges stem from a celebrity boxing match which took place in Miami back in May. Brown was released on $25,000 bond last week. He will have to wear a GPS ankle monitor while he’s out on bail.“Brown is accused of grabbing a handgun from a security staffer and firing two shots at a person he was in a fight with earlier in the night at a celebrity boxing event,” per ESPN.A tentative hearing has been scheduled for December 22, although a trial date has not yet been set. According to an arrest warrant Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu told prosecutors that one of the bullets grazed his neck.In Florida, an attempted murder conviction comes with a minimum 15-year prison sentence. Assistant state attorney Stephanie Criz, however, says that because Brown allegedly used a gun, he could face twice that amount of jail time for firearm sentencing enhancement.The two-time NFL receptions leader and seven-time Pro Bowler was extradited from Dubai last week. He’d been staying there since the arrest warrant was issued in June.Brown is arguably the greatest wide receiver of his generation. He finished his NFL career with 928 receptions for 12,291 yards and 83 touchdowns. While most of his best years were with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Brown also had stints with the Las Vegas Raiders, New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.Brown’s history of legal issuesAntonio Brown is denying any wrongdoing regarding the attempted murder charges he is facing. The Super Bowl champion who enjoyed many hugely successful seasons with the Steelers appeared virtually with lawyer Mark Eiglarsh on Monday to plead not guilty to the allegations.The former star receiver dropped a three-word message following his release from prison, saying:“God is good.”This is just the latest in a string of alleged incidents involving Brown since his playing career ended. In 2018, he allegedly tossed furniture from his apartment, striking a toddler. He’s also had sexual assault allegations against him and reportedly exposed himself to a woman in Dubai in 2022.In April 2023, he was arrested for allegedly failing to make child support payments. Brown is the father of five sons and also has two daughters.If found guilty of attempted murder, his minimum sentence will be 20 years in jail.
