Minnesota Vikings icon and two-time Pro Bowler, Adam Thielen, announced his intention to retire from professional football at the end of the 2025 season. Thielen then asked to be waived by the Vikings, and his request was granted.Fans and media speculated that Thielen's decision was driven by a desire to chase wins and a potential ring. However, his wife, Caitlin, has emphatically shut down such chatter. Caitlin took to Instagram and said,"It’s not even about wins or losses, it’s about Adam wanting to compete, wanting to play. This is his last season… I know him as a competitor, he wants to compete, wants to play, wants to prove, he’s always been about proving people, proving to himself.”Adam Thielen was behind Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and Jalen Nailor on the Vikings' WR depth chart and got a career low in targets. The former two-time Pro Bowler mustered just eight receptions and 69 receiving yards in 11 games in Minnesota this season. It was crystal clear that Thielen would not get many targets in the business end of the season. So, he chose to finish his career with a team that could give him a chance to contribute, and potentially give him a storybook ending.Adam Thielen joins the Pittsburgh SteelersAdam Thielen is taking his talents to Pittsburgh and closing out his career by catching passes from Aaron Rodgers.
