"I missed, obviously, some throws, for sure," Rodgers said. "And then we weren't getting guys open and just put it all together the times the guys were open. I missed some throws I usually make."

The veteran quarterback took accountability for his poor performance.

“It wasn’t great on offense,” Rodgers said. “We were struggling a little bit, couldn’t get a play to get going. We always say, if we can get a first down, we can get a score on the drive. We had so many three-and-outs. We hurt ourselves with a couple of penalties, and I didn’t play very good at all. I’ve got to play better.”

Rodgers completed 16 of 31 passes (51.6 %) for 161 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. His 50.6 passer rating was his worst of the season. Rodgers was also sacked three times, including a safety early in the game.

Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin echoed Rodgers' assessment.

“We as an offense collective were off today. And certainly he was a component of that,” Tomlin said. “We certainly got to be better. Didn’t feel like they did anything unanticipated, but they certainly out-performed us, particularly in possession-down play.”

The Steelers were held to just 221 total yards, converted only 2 of 11 third-down attempts and trailed for much of the game. The Chargers jumped ahead via Rodgers' safety and turnover-induced scores.

Rodgers and Pittsburgh (5-4) will look to bounce back on Sunday versus the Cincinnati Bengals.

LeSean McCoy says Aaron Rodgers looks 'nervous,' urges him to retire after the Steelers' season

After Aaron Rodgers’ disappointing performance against the LA Chargers on Sunday, former NFL running back LeSean McCoy said it’s time for him to retire.

“It’s time,” McCoy said, via "Speakeasy." “I’ve been saying it for the past couple of weeks. I love Aaron Rodgers and don’t want to say anything bad about him, but it is time for him to hang it up. He doesn’t look comfortable. He looks nervous in there. I get it, he’s 41-years-old, he doesn’t want to get hit. It’s time to let go.”

McCoy added that Rodgers “looks scared” and lacks toughness to continue playing at this stage of his career.
